Ze Energy x Energy Pool: A French First in Flexible Hybrid Solar

This five-year partnership will enable the aggregation and market optimisation of ZE Energy’s hybrid solar plants, through the joint management of electricity production and the flexibility provided by storage.

It represents a first in France for this type of hybrid installation, combining solar generation with battery storage and real-time control of flexibility. This innovative setup both secures investment and maximises the market value of the assets.

Four sites are initially included in the agreement:

- Senillé-Saint-Sauveur (Vienne): a stand-alone battery storage facility

- Mennetou and Gièvres (Loir-et-Cher): hybrid sites supported by a Feed-in Premium scheme (Complément de Rémunération – CCR)

- Vert (Landes): a future hybrid plant scheduled for commissioning in late 2025, to be operated under a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Orange France

Energy Pool will oversee the real-time optimisation of generation and storage using an advanced technical architecture combining an Energy Management System (EMS), a Power Management System (PMS) with an on-site FlexBox controller. This setup enables dynamic energy injection or storage based on market and grid signals, so energy can be sold at the most opportune moment across:

- the spot market (EPEX)

- grid balancing and ancillary services (frequency and reserve)

- capacity and adjustment mechanisms
